Help For Ocracoke Family
Donation protected
Roger and Kim Meacham's family are long time residents of Ocracoke Island. After Hurricane Dorian, they, like many others, are trying to rebuild their lives and salvage what they can after this terrible tragedy. Roger and Kim have two wonderful children. Unfortunately since the disaster, they've not been able to work. They own a local business, Milk Street Soap Co.. They were in the process of moving all of the business' inventory, and the contents of their old house to a safer location in Kitty Hawk. The storm started tearing into Ocracoke before they could get everything out. The soap studio along with all the inventory was flooded as well as their home and an 8x20 shipping container that stored all their belongings from the old house. Everything gone. There are a lot of generous people on the island helping residents clean up, provide hot meals, warm showers and skilled labor to help rebuild. All this is truly wonderful and shows how neighbors care for each other and the strength and resilience of this community. But if you can't work, you can't make money to pay your bills and my dear friends need some help here. They are literally starting at zero. I have known Roger since we were kids. He has always been self-reliant and extremely resourceful. With Kim he married a woman who is his equal in this regard. But even the most self-reliant, resourceful people can get hit hard enough by life to need some help to get back on their feet. My friends just need to pay their bills and care for their children like so many other victims of this hurricane on Ocracoke. I ask you to please consider donating to this GoFundMe to help this wonderful family directly. You will be helping to relieve some of the incredible financial burden they are currently under so they can start to rebuild. Nobody wants to see their friends down like this. Every little bit helps here. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity
