Help for Betty & Noah Wengerd's Family
My children's Amish babysitter from 29 years ago, Betty (Hostetler) Wengerd lives in the house pictured above with her husband Noah and their 9 children. Betty, her sisters, and her mother have babysat, cleaned houses, and cared for the elderly in the Sherman community.
Noah was working in the woods on 11/5/20 when a dead tree uprooted and fell on top of him. He suffered severe injuries and had to be star flighted to Hamot Hospital. He broke his back, tailbone, and 8 ribs in the accident. He had internal bleeding and his colon was torn so he temporarily has a a colostomy bag. His pelvis split so the doctors screwed a device to the top of his pelvic bones to keep it immobile while it heals. Noah spent a full month in the hospital. He is now home with his family, but has been mostly confined to a hospital bed that the family was able to get donated to them.
Noah is making good progress in his recovery, but has a long way to go. The family has received cards and donations from people and are so grateful for the support, but the ongoing expenses continue to pile up. Every time Noah has to go to the hospital for a follow up appointment they have to pay $900 upfront since he has to be transported on a stretcher through Emergy care services, due to his pelvis injury.
I decided to set up this Go Fund Me page to help out this wonderful family with the continued transportation expenses, living expenses, putting food on the table, and Noah's medication and physical therapy costs.
Please consider making a donation, no matter how big or small, every amount adds up and can make a difference to get the Wengerd family back on their feet. Please also share this Go Fund Me on social media platforms to help spread the word. Thank you all!
