A message from the family:
We started this journey almost two years ago when we noticed a change in our sweet daughter, Naomi, 14. She has always been a loving, caring, and compassionate girl. The change in her demeanor was gradual at first but then rapidly became debilitating. She was diagnosed with multiple mental health issues and now struggles with suicide and self-harm every day. She has been in the hospital since December 19th,2021.
We were devastated to find out that our insurance company stopped paying for her hospitalization in the middle of this crisis. The denial of coverage is implausible to the team of doctors as well as us, her parents.
We pay for medical insurance without hesitation every month, expecting to receive covered medical care as needed. We never imagined that we would be denied coverage for mental health care for our precious daughter. Every day on the news, we hear about the exponential rise in suicides in this country. The statistics are heartbreaking, and we are fighting for her not to become one.
