Help for Nancy Sears

Donation protected
We are raising money to help Nancy Sears, a third grade teacher at Village Elementary School in Skillman, NJ. On Sunday, March 17th, Nancy was rushed by ambulance to the hospital due to shortness of breath and diagnosed with a life-threatening pulmonary embolism. Within 24 hours, she experienced a rare spinal hemorrhage. Nancy underwent emergency spinal surgery and remains in a neurological ICU. During multiple MRIs and angiograms following her surgery, it was determined that Nancy had a rare fistula AVM, which is a tangle of blood vessels in the spinal cord. The spinal hemorrhage was likely caused by the combination of this rare fistula AVM and the blood thinners used to treat the pulmonary embolism.

Nancy remains in relatively good spirits, but is in a lot of pain and remains paralyzed from the waist down. At this time, her long-term prognosis is unknown. She will eventually move to an in-patient rehabilitation facility before going home to continue therapy. She dreams of making a full recovery so she can return to caring for her family and to her classroom to continue the job she loves.

Funds raised from this campaign will be used to help cover medical co-pays, any unforeseen expenses resulting from hospitalization and rehabilitation, and to make any necessary handicap modifications to her 2-story home.

Your support will mean so much to Nancy and her family during this difficult time. Please continue to hold Nancy and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
