Help for Nancy and Lydia

Nancy Mercado is a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, friend and former Marine. Everyday she sets out to be the best she can be and take care of her family.

As with many,  she struggles financially to make ends meet for her and her daughter.
As a single mother she juggles all of the responsibilities for her daughter and the home she makes for them. She never asks for anything, but she often takes in a friend or family member that may need a place to stay and a home cooked meal. After a long day of working, she doesn't relax until her family is feed. Maybe the will get lucky and she will make tostones, paella, mofongo or arroz con grandules. Whatever she serves,  there will be a side of vibrant conversation and laughter.

Last week, Nancy was doing exactly that, cooking for family, when there was a terrible accident.  She had forgotten  she was heating grease to make tostones when the grease caught fire.  All she could think to do at that frightening moment was to grab the pan and throw it outside. The grease came back on her arm, giving her third degree burns which required skin grafts.  She told me she was only thinking of the children and not wanting to be homeless from a fire.

Homeless? Like many Americans, and single mothers, Nancy works very hard
but the reality is she lives paycheck to paycheck.  As with many veterans,  she struggles financially to make ends meet for her and her daughter. Sadly,  like many American's,  she has to choose between heath insurance premuum and making her rent, utilities, and feeding her and her daughter. 

Nancy, this wonderful kind and generous person is in a financial strait. She can't work because of her burns and skin grafts and her medical bill's will be very expensive. The  cost of the medications alone will be astronomical.  She will need help.

All of us that know and love Nancy,  most likely want to help her. And we know that no single one of us can do it all. If each of us provide a little donation, we can help her so she can make her rent and other necessities while she heals properly.
