Hi, my name is Jason Reed and I am a good friend of the Bush family. Their daughter, Mylie, who is now 15 years old, is in need of an open heart surgery to repair her mitral valve.

 

 

 

But there is much more to it than that... this issue with her heart was discovered shortly after birth and she has been battling this all her life. Two prior open heart surgeries, nine other surgeries and twenty-two heart caths to be exact. Now that she is close to being completely grown, she can have a valve replacement open heart surgery to hopefully finally fix this issue.

 

As if an open heart surgery isn't enough, they also have to do a femoral artery bypass at the same time. Her femoral artery has been damaged due to the 22 catheterizations she has had over 15 years.

 

 

 

Obviously, the medical costs of all of this through the years have been enormous. Not to mention this large double surgery will be costly. Thankfully the Bush family does have insurance, but the out of pocket maximum will easily be reached from just one of these procedures Mylie needs. To top it all off, they have to go to Boston for the procedure (they have been there for several previous procedures). The hospital only allows 1 person to stay with Mylie. That means they have to pay for boarding for the other parent. Because it is such a big procedure they have to be there early and the stay will be nearly the entire month of February.
