As I write this, my sister Liz has been in the hospital for two weeks mostly in the ICU after falling critically ill.
Before I go further, let me tell you about the person you will be helping. Liz is a "good Samaritan". Liz doesn't just care about the underdog, she goes out of her way to help them. Often when people see someone in dire need, they look away. Not Liz - she offers the help in whatever way she possibly can.
Liz is an integrative psychiatric nurse practitioner who started her own practice within the last few years to help others with mental health challenges. Liz has become increasingly knowledgeable in offering natural alternatives and counseling and prescribes medication only when necessary.
When I came to Indiana to help her out, so many of her friends jumped at the chance to help Liz in some way. When I thanked them, one after the other said the same thing: "Liz saved my life", "I wouldn't be here without Liz", "I can never repay Liz for what she has done for me."
After a recent separation, Liz lives alone with her 15-year-old daughter Alexis who has Down Syndrome and several physical issues. In addition to running her business, after the separation, Liz had to scramble for child care for Alexis and take on all responsibilities formerly handled by her husband. The stress of these additional responsibilities took its toll and affected Liz severely. Liz is the sole provider for her family and will lose at least one month's income in order to recover. Her need for financial assistance is great.
This is your chance to help someone who does not hesitate to help others. Now she needs us to lend a hand. Whatever you can give, no matter how great or small, would be truly appreciated by Liz and her friends and family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
