Feeding communities in Puerto Rico
Donation protected
For those that might be seeing this for the first time : Bill and I are raising funds to help our friends in Puerto Rico: Pastor Ismael and Pastora Sara
at Iglesia Cristo Palabra de Poder, as they labor to help their members and their community of Rio Piedras.
We were relieved to be able to finally communicate with Pastor Ismael of our beloved church family in Puerto Rico. Here is an update in his words:
“Bless you, God is good. We as the body of Christ, met at church on Sunday. Four came to Christ and 175 people ate hot lunch and had cold refreshments – Glory to God. Today we are giving out clothes to the needy. We are staying at the church facilities, have no way to go home nor gasoline. God is good, we are here to be a blessing and to bless his holy name. Keep praying for Puerto Rico.”
When asked if we should send money or if it might be more helpful to buy supplies here and ship them, he replied:
“The supplies are not getting to the people, they are holding them. Money is best, they opened the banks. People were turning towards hysteria. There is food in the supermarkets, only have to make very long lines. I got in line at 5:00 a.m. and was able to enter at 9:30 a.m. and had only 40 minutes to buy. But supplies are getting through at the supermarkets, slowly.”
PLEASE NOTE: Because internet access is intermittent, I cannot directly deposit these funds into the church bank account from the gofund me account. I have to withdraw them from gofundme, deposit them in my bank account, then do a wire transfer into their account. I can provide documentation of the wire transfers if that would make you feel more comfortable donating. Feel free to continue to give to this project, we're going to keep it up and running for a few weeks; the needs are not going to go away for quite some time. Thanks SO MUCH to all who have contributed. You have all been so generous! ❤️
