I’m reaching out because my mom is facing an incredibly difficult and unexpected situation. After living in the same home for over two years, she became the victim of aggravated assault. She had to leave with nowhere to go, but for her safety, she needed to leave that situation for good.

A lot of people have asked why she can’t just stay with me. I truly wish that were an option. I don’t live alone and my current living and financial situation isn’t the best either. I also have dogs of my own. One of my mom’s dogs has past trauma and isn’t comfortable around unfamiliar animals, so bringing them together just won’t work, we tried. Because of the layout of where I live, there’s no realistic way to keep the dogs separated.

This has been heartbreaking. I’ve spent hours/days calling shelters, organizations, boarding facilities, and anyone else I could think of trying to find help. I’m doing everything I can think to do and I only ask that people please be understanding and kind.

She is actively looking for a better job and doing everything she can to get back on her feet. She currently works part time but as we all know, times are hard and housing is NOT cheap. She isn’t asking for a handout. I just simply want to help her, but I don’t have much to offer myself. She is my world and all I want is to see her regain her confidence, breathe, heal, and be the amazing mother and woman I’ve always known her to be. I’m just hoping to give her a chance to get through this unexpected hardship while she works toward a fresh start. She’s my best friend, and it breaks my heart more than I can explain seeing her go through this.

Her dogs mean everything to her. They’re not “just dogs.” They’re her family, her comfort, and honestly part of what keeps her going on the hardest days. She loves them with her whole heart, and I don’t want her to have to lose them. They are older dogs and were rescues. She wants to keep them by her side rather than having to surrender them because of circumstances beyond her control.

The money raised will go toward giving her a safe place to stay with the dogs temporarily at least. She has been staying at a hotel & I have been with her majority of the time but it’s becoming financially unfeasible. It will help pay for temporary stay, pet friendly accommodations, food, transportation, and if possible, maybe a security deposit and first month’s rent so she can have a place of her own again.
