Phase 2 of Chemo and Immunotherapy Treatment

RECENT UPDATE BELOW in UPDATES!! My name is Kate. My brother Hans who is 41 years old, was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer in March. The stress of financial stability during his battle, as well as medical costs weighs heavy on him and his wife Renee. With hesitation but also humility knowing any support for their peace of mind as they navigate what's coming up is important, they feel its time to ask for help and asked me to set up a GoFundMe. They are asking for financial help for the out of pocket costs after insurance, and the time off work he will need to take. They are also preparing for Renee to maybe not work as she may need to step into a present role of being a caregiver for him and be home with the kids. This looks like it will be about a 9 month to a year journey, maybe longer, with alot of unknowns.

They are staying so positive, trusting God through each step and leaning into sound faith. We will update his journey through this battle with written updates and pictures.

So far it has been 2 months with dozens of appointments and tests with the Providence Cancer Team. It is a large tumor and the cancer cells have spread to surrounding lymph nodes. He will need to undergo a combination of chemotherapy, possibly radiation, and surgery. They are getting a second opinion from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Both teams are pitching different treatment/surgical plans, which is confusing. Hans and Renee are gathering all of the info they possibly can and diligently taking the next right indicated steps. We want the best outcome for fighting this cancer and keeping his body as strong and healthy as possible during and after treatment. Hans also wants to work with a naturopath for immunotherapy during and after chemotherapy which will be 100% out of pocket for appointments, dietician and immunotherapy treatments.

Who they are: My brother and his wife Renee have been married for 17 years. They have 3 amazing children. Ava is 13 and loves working with and riding horses. Shes growing her own garden and walks neighborhood dogs. Sadie is 10 and loves to sing and takes voice lessons. She is very creative and loves being out in nature. Tytus is 7. He started playing baseball and is a natural! He loves monster trucks and legos. Hes a mini me version of his dad. Hans works for Boeing and Renee is a cleaner. They go above and beyond for their childrens activities, education and wellness. Its time to focus on Hans and his health and the support for Renee and the kids!

Any support for my brother, sister in law and my neices and nephew will be such a blessing. I want them to feel the weight of all of this lighten a bit so as a family they can get through this with as less stress as possible.
