My mom has passed.
My name is Dawn Libardi. My mom has numerous health issues and I had moved down to Florida in 2011 to just be here for her. She has gotten weaker over the years of course so I have been taking on more and more as time goes on. (handle her medications, take her to doctor appts, cooking, cleaning etc) She had fallen just before this past Christmas and broke some toes. She had to spend time in Rehab then was able to come home January 10th. She has been having trouble breathing for a while which has slowly been getting worse and testing wasn't showing much that was wrong. I finally brought her to the ER one evening because she could barely move without being out of breath. Turned out, she has some severely clogged arteries but to help for now, they gave her a pacemaker on February 9th to help until she builds up strength to get Rotablation of the arteries( drilling out plaque build up). Being she uses a walker, she had to go to Rehab because she was not allowed to use her one arm on the side of her chest the pacemaker was. As we wait until she can use her walker, she somehow got a UTI ( 2 different infections)which seemed to affect her mental state and still is. One day she will seem ok, the other days, just not herself and appears to be confused often. She has been in Rehab since around the second week in February. Medicare paid 100% for the first 20 days back in December/January for the fall. She wasn't home for at least 60 days from when she was in Rehab from her fall, Medicare just continues her Rehab stay instead of starting over. So we have been paying $200/daily and have paid $3000 payment so far. Now we were just told that the cost is going up to $300/daily.
Here is the tricky part, Normally we would just get her back home but I had to go in to the hospital February 28th for a Triple by-pass and just came home this past Thursday. I am going to need up to 8 months of healing and can't lift a wheelchair etc for my mom if we were able to get her home. We are hoping that her Cardiology appt this Thursday goes well and the surgeon says she can resume using her arms then Rehab can start physical therapy to build up her strength to use her walker again so we can get her home but that would probably require about another 4-6 weeks in Rehab but at the cost, she is going through her savings/retirement funds.
So I am asking for help with her Rehab costs so we can keep her in there at least another 4-6 weeks to get her strength up. She is currently in Arbor Trail Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Inverness, FL. I truly appreciate any and all help you can give. If you can't afford much or anything at all, prayers are greatly appreciated as well.
Thank you so much,
Dawn
