Hi! We are close friends of Mark Huynh, a first-generation college student-athlete at Tufts University and his father, Minh Huynh is in need of financial assistance for him and his family.
Minh Huynh is a 52 year old Vietnamese man from Andover Massachusetts, who has worked as a landscaper and remodeler ever since immigrating to the United States. He has four sons and has worked hard to send them all through top colleges as first generation students. If anyone knows him, he is the most humblest and kind-hearted person you will ever meet.
Unfortunately, a couple months ago, Minh was diagnosed with stage 4 Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which is a type of cancer that begins in the lymphatic system and spreads throughout the body. He had started feeling pain in his stomach in January and his son, Mark, drove home from college to take him to the hospital. A couple days later he was told the cancer had spread to multiple parts of his body and had been pressing on his kidney, which made it difficult for him to eat or drink anything.
Due to the fact that the only immediate family he had in Massachusetts was his son, Mark, who constantly drove back and forth from college to visit and take care of him, he had to fly to San Francisco, California to stay with his sister and parents to have more support. Not soon after, he started chemotherapy treatment at Stanford Cancer Institute and has now done 4 of his 6 planned cycles.
Over the months since the diagnosis, Minh has not been able to work full time or continue to provide for his son’s living expenses and tuition on top of his own living expenses and medical bills. As a result, Mark had to pick up more hours at his job in order to provide for his own expenses in addition to his academics at Tufts University and offseason training on the varsity soccer team, but the expenses are starting to catch up to the whole family.
Minh and his family are in need of financial support to help them get through this time while he goes through treatment and does everything he can to get healthy and work to provide for his family again. Anything helps!
