Hello my name is celina and I am trying to raise funds for my son’s little rescue dog. He has had him 7 months and his story is a sad one. We found Milo ( his name has been changed ) being advertised online for adoption from a sanctuary in Essex. I had been searching for a little dog as a companion for my son for some time. So when I saw this tiny toy dog ( cross terrier / papillon ) I knew we had to go and take a look at him . We arrived at the sanctuary and immediately fell in love with him. The owner of the sanctuary said he had all his jabs and if there were any issues we could get back to him. My son had only had Milo two weeks ( uninsured as seeing if they were compatible still ) when he started to become unwell. We took him to a vet who said he had a urine infection. So he had some tablets and antibiotics to clear it up. A couple of weeks later when we knew he fitted in well I took out insurance for him. 2 weeks later milo
became unwell again. We went back to the vets who thought that maybe a scan would help to see if any blockages :(. The scan showed a bladder full of stones and crystals. More the vet said than they had ever seen before ! We were advised to put him on a special urinary diet to try and dissolve some of the crystals. We approached the insurance company to try and get refunded for his scan but they refused as Milo had a urine infection 2 weeks before we could insure him :(. So sadly as this is an ongoing problem they will not cover him. Little Milo has so many stones that he cannot wee properly. He can only dribble. He spends ages trying to go but nothing happens. The poor little boy gets so frustrated. The only way forward is another scan and an operation to put him out and go in and try and remove as many stones blocking his bladder to try to enable him to be able to pee normally. This is going to be very costly and the only way out little boy might be able to have a normal life . The reason this is so important to us is that the sanctuary he came from got raided by numerous animal welfare agencies and the police a month after we got him and turned out to be a death trap for dogs. They were being mistreated , starved , used for dog fights and many poor creatures were found dead in cages ! The owner is currently in prison awaiting the hearing (. The sanctuary was called save a paw). Milo was lucky to be adopted (. Just a few were put up for adoption as a cover ). We do not know the horrors he would have witnessed during his time there and how badly he was treated ! All we know is we got him out just in time. He has been through so much in his short life so far, we just want the rest of it to be full of love and pain free.
