Hi, my name is Jane Layman, and this is for my parents, Mike and Gale Pierce.

My Mom had open heart surgery last March for a double bypass and to repair two heart valves at the Mayo Clinic. She spent 20 days in the hospital and experienced challenges during that recovery. In the last few months, she has been battling pain, high blood pressure, fluid in her lungs and feet and shortness of breath. She has been in the hospital twice in the past month, and she recently came home two days ago. She has Lupus which makes things more difficult. She will be going to the Mayo Clinic in the next couple weeks to get another opinion. She also has surgery scheduled in mid-February to remove a mass on the kidney which they believe is cancer. We are hopeful that she can feel much better to be able to have surgery and heal from that as well.

My Dad has been there every step of the way and is still working at 72 years old to provide for her. He is such a strong man and hard worker which has made the past couple weeks even tougher as he’s now going through his own health battle. He had a stroke two weeks ago on December 28th, so he is now unable to work. He will be starting physical therapy to help with his speech and mobility which were weakened by the stroke. He is now on the road to recovery like my Mom.

This past year has been a challenging one, but I pray that 2024 will bring total healing. I know that God is our Healer, and He has got this! I believe in the power of prayer, so please keep my parents and family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this. Since there are medical expenses for them both and my Dad cannot work right now, we would greatly appreciate any donations to help with those.
