Hello everyone,
Mia is our 2 year old doggie, she was born September 17, 2017. She has been with us since we rescued her at 4 months old.
She is is a sweet and energetic dog and is best friends with our 14 month old son. They love each other and cuddle and play. She is the ideal
dog, she never takes his snacks, doesn’t touch his toys (unless he wants to share). We take long walks to the park together and they are best friends. Their relationship is what you imagine when you think of super cute babies and puppies.
Recently we we found out Mia has what’s called a “Ruptured cruciate ligament.” She tore a ligament in her knee. This makes it more difficult for her to walk as she puts all her weight on her left leg. She limps, and her knee pops out when she takes any steps. In human terms she tore her ACL. Surgery is the only solution for this type of injury. Without it she has a chance to developing advanced arthritis. There is also a chance her other knee will rip because she is putting all her weight on the other leg.
As this happened to Mia at the young age of 2, the assessment is that it’s a genetic condition. Therefore the pet insurance company is not willing to compensate for the cost of the surgery. And Mia is at a higher risk for needing this exact surgery for her other knee.
We are looking at all avenues of how to pay for her surgery. We met with Dr. Saundra Hewitt at the West Toronto Veterinary Surgery. We have the quote for the surgery, I would be happy to post it. And called many other hospitals. Not a single one offers any type of payment plan for this type of procedure. We are asking you to please consider helping us get Mia this surgery so that she can go back to her happy, cheerful self. We appreciate any kind of support.
We will be posting updates and pictures and once the surgery is scheduled and once it is completed and if there is any other information required please email me and I will answer any and all questions.
