Help for Megan Sutton, baby Amber Rose & Family
Donation protected
COVID-19 has taken so much from so many. It has robbed us all of many moments that were meant to be celebratory and this past week it impacted our family in a particularly heartbreaking way.
My sister-in-law was 37 weeks pregnant when she was hospitalized with this awful virus. Megan was struggling to breath and incredibly weak so my brother-in-law took her to the hospital and she was admitted. But not until after spending days in the ER due to a lack of beds on the COVID floor. At times she would be alone because they have a 2 year old at home that needed to be taken care of so Parker had no choice but to leave her. Thankfully my husband was able to fly out the day after she was admitted to be with them and my mother-in-law joined a few days later.
On September 22nd, 4 days after being hospitalized and receiving oxygen, Megan went into labor. She labored for 1 hour and the baby came so quickly she had her on the COVID floor and Megan was not able to receive an epidural. Can you even FATHOM? Not only struggling with COVID and all the stress and anxiety of being suddenly hospitalized but now having to recover from natural birth?!
Because the baby was early, and not born on the labor and delivery floor she was rushed to the NICU which was in a completely different building of the hospital. Baby Amber Rose Sutton is a fighter though just like her mama and she is thankfully doing wonderfully (and is actually even home now!)
That was 5 days ago and Megan has yet to hold her baby or even be close to her. She is still on the COVID floor while her baby is at home with her 2 year old son, husband, and our mother-in-law. You can imagine how heartbreaking this is for a mama. To be separated from your children and husband is incredibly difficult let alone dealing with COVID and postpartum. Today was the first time in a week she was able to sit up without her oxygen levels getting too low which is a big praise! She’ll be discharged with oxygen and we are just praying that it’s so soon. We want this sweet family back together again.
They won’t ever be able to get back this time where they could’ve been preparing for their baby girl and enjoying their last moments as a family of 3. As they transition to a family of 4 their financial burdens have just increased greatly. Their insurance deductible is 10,000 and Parker has been out of work with no pay for two weeks. With family leave he’ll make 50% of his income and we still are not sure even when Megan will be sent home.
Would you please consider lightening their load and easing some of these burdens? We would so appreciate any contribution and it would go directly to Parker, Megan and their children!
We are so thankful for your prayers during this hard time.
With love,
Kirra
