On Mother’s Day, my mother, Mattie Edwards, traveled to Massachusetts with my sister and me to celebrate a major milestone in my life — my graduation and hooding ceremony from Western New England University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on May 14, 2026. Unfortunately, during our stay at the hotel, my mother suffered a devastating fall caused by an uneven floor in the hotel room. As a result, she broke her hip and had to undergo emergency surgery. Instead of celebrating together, our family has been focused on her recovery and hospitalization.
At this time, my mother is unable to travel back home to Georgia because she now requires rehabilitation care in Massachusetts for an estimated 6–8 weeks. This unexpected medical emergency has created emotional and financial hardship for our family. We are asking for help with rehabilitation and recovery-related expenses, extended lodging and transportation needs, flights so I can travel back and forth to support and care for my mother during her recovery, and arrangements to safely bring her home to Georgia once she is medically cleared to travel.
Any donation, prayer, or share of this fundraiser would mean so much to our family during this difficult time. We truly appreciate your kindness, support, and generosity. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. With gratitude, Vickie Clark
