As we all know, Marylou Villalobos Palos, our neighbor and admin staff member at Olivewood Elementary, was a victim of a senseless violent attack this past Tuesday April 14th when a male stranger entered her home through the backyard, broke her kitchen window, grabbed a kitchen knife and attempted to kill her. Her motherly instinct told her to run out into the neighborhood to safe her two teenage daughters from this individual. He started chasing her with the knife and while she ran for her life, he caught up to her and began to stab her inflicting more than 20 wounds in her neck, torso, abdomen, and arms. Thanks to the brave actions of our neighbors who stopped the attacker, she’s alive and recovering at Mission Viejo hospital from her physical injuries. However, the attack has left long-lasting psychological trauma, and her family is hopeful that with the help of her loved ones, and the community, she will recover soon from it. Any help from the community will be used to pay for medical co-payment bills, but mostly for temporary housing because the trauma is stopping her from returning to the place she once called home. It will also help with any unexpected expenses they may incur from this horrible experience.
