Help for Mary and Rick Passwaters

Hello, my name is Samantha Ward. I am not the important person in this story but just to give you a little background on why I am doing this- I have known the Passwaters for over 20 years as a friend, adopted daughter, aunt, sister and everything in between. I wouldn’t be writing this if it didn’t consume my WHOLE heart with the drive to help these amazing people.

Big Rick, Richard, Dad, Husband, Poppop, Race car driver, Mechanic, Fixer of everything- However you know Rick Passwaters I need your help.

Last year Rick was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis and has been in and out of the hospital managing his condition and taking the good with the bad. Last week the family started the process to be added to the transplant list and unfortunately on 6/21 his condition started to deteriorate rapidly. His Doctor has sent him to University of Maryland to streamline the rest of the process for a lung transplant. Streamlining in the medical

field is a good but scary thought and doesn’t always mean it will be quick. He will remain in the hospital for weeks, if not months- we just do not know yet.

Anyone who knows Rick, knows Mary. She is a loving, devoted wife and if I’m being honest offers us all more patience then we deserve. She will be going through this tough road along side Rick and needs our help just as much as him. I am asking for our community, friends, family and neighbors to show some support for these lovely two people in a big way! They will need help with bills, medical costs, hotels, and food. Any dollar is a huge help.

Not only is financial help needed but prayers and emotional support are just as important. Send a text, a call, a prayer or a just thought of good vibes their way whenever the moment hits you.
