Help for Mark and Marie Smith
Donation protected
My name is Carolyn Lee (from Kayla's Foundation on Facebook), and I am raising money for Mark and Marie Smith of Adelaide, Australia. Mark was just diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, and this lovely couple now needs our help.
Many of you know Marie from the dog community on Facebook. Marie and Mark are the parents of Jazzy and Bonnie (@Jazzymarie Smith), and you may also remember their sweet Noah dog, now at Rainbow Bridge. Mark and Marie, who met when Marie was 16 and have been together for 30 years, are wonderful people. Those who know them know how loving and kind they are, how incredibly hard they work, and how devoted they are to their dogs, Jazzy and Bonnie. Marie is known on Facebook as the most generous and thoughtful soul - always with a happy comment on your post and willing to help in any way she can. Every year, Marie raises funds for Australian Guide Dogs through their Pawgust program, and I have always been impressed with how much she dedicates herself to that cause.
Last week, Mark was admitted to the hospital after having a stroke. More tests showed that he has aggressive Stage 4 Lung Cancer that has spread to his liver, pancreas, and adrenal glands and is also affecting his kidneys. Brain scans also show several spots on his brain. In short, this is devastating news for Mark and Marie, their family, and all who know them. Prayer warriors have been activated around the world, and friends of Marie's in a Facebook group have coordinated meals for the next month.
Mark and Marie have always been incredibly hard workers, with Marie working at a senior care home all through the pandemic. However, Mark can no longer work, and Marie must stay home to care for him. To support them through this incredibly challenging time, we ask their friends worldwide to donate what they can to help with bills and taxi fares to and from treatment.
Any donation amount is very much appreciated, and please share this campaign on Facebook and with all your friends and family. If we get the word out to enough people, I know we can make a difference for these two wonderful people.
