Help for Marie while she mourns her mother

On April 19, 2022, my best friend, Marie Wilhelm received a call that would forever change her life. A call that she had waited for, and dreaded receiving for 21 years. The search for her missing mother, Janet Luxford, was finally over. The remains of her mother had been found in a remote field in Alabama where they had been for the past two decades. This was obviously not the outcome anyone had hoped for especially because of the circumstances surrounding her death. Marie was just 19 years old when her mother disappeared, and since then Marie had filed multiple missing person reports across the country…she never gave up looking for her. She hoped and prayed that one day she would get to feel her mother’s arms around her again. She hoped that one day, her son, who Marie was pregnant with when her mother disappeared would get to meet his grandmother and see where they got their beautiful smile from, sadly, that day will never come…not in this lifetime, anyway.

With answers comes more pain, sadness, and anger, and unfortunately, Marie’s occupation as a hairstylist does not allow for her to take paid time off to properly mourn this devastating loss. She has a long road of healing ahead of her, on top of that, she will most likely need to make several trips to Alabama to be her mother’s voice when the monster that took her life goes to trial. With that said, I humbly ask that you consider donating to Marie so she can take time off without having to worry about finances. Anyone who has faced a loss of a loved one knows how devastating it can be but the circumstances surrounding her mother’s death make it especially difficult.
