Help for Marianne Golovchenko (Fighting Cancer)

Hello, My name is Lisa Giesen and Marianne is my beautiful sister-in-law.

This fundraiser is to help Marianne and her husband through this very difficult time as Marianne goes through Cancer Treatments. Funds will be used for current living expenses and future expenses.

Marianne contacted all of our Family on FaceTime and told us the heartbreaking news June 2021. All of us in tears, and in shock, as she explained the type of Cancer, Life Expectancy and Treatments. Marianne was diagnosed with Serous Carcinoma Stage 3C.

Serous Carcinoma is a rare, aggressive cancer that affects post-menopausal women. It affects about 20% of women going through endometrial cancer. It has metastasized (spread) from her ovaries to other parts of her body. This cancer has affected Marianne's pelvic lymph nodes and spread to her left lung.

Marianne loves and has always worked, but can not at this time, which puts a huge amount of responsibility on her loving husband Alex. Marianne has been a Hairstylist for 43 years. Of those years she taught cosmetology for 11, and then became Director and Manager of an Orillia campus beauty school for 5 years until it closed. She went back to behind the chair as a hairstylist for the last 4 years. She loves to make others look and feel beautiful. Marianne thoroughly enjoyed her career and hoped to work until retirement. She adored and loved her wonderful students. She told me "the students she has taught are her legacy!"

We are not sure if or when she will be able to return to work. At a recent Doctors appointment, they said there is a possibility now of surgery along with ongoing chemo and radiation treatments.

I know this a long introduction. Its hard to keep short as Marianne is one of the most humble, loving, giving individuals I have ever known in my life. I am so lucky to be her sister-in-law!

Marianne and Alex are like you and me.....hard workers that pay their bills, once in a blue moon treat themselves out for dinner, or buy a couple of those really expensive good steaks for the bbq. Please keep them in your prayers. And if anything....Go tell someone you love how much they mean to you, how wonderful they are, and how appreciative you are to have them in your life.
