Maria's cabin burned down on May 29th and she has been medevaced to Edmonton. Two of her beloved dogs perished in the fire as well as all of her belongings. A longtime resident of Yellowknife, Maria has for years shown compassion to animals through her work as an animal health technician and is notorious for skijouring and training teams of rescue dogs. Maria has a long road ahead and will need all the support she can get to rebuild her home.
