Help for Marcus Boakes after his accident

Marcus is 23 years old and from East Sussex, and his life has been changed in an instant following a horrific car accident. Marcus is a son, brother, and a friend to so many. His loving family and all his friends are devastated and shocked by how suddenly the Marcus we know and love is not able to be with us.

On a Saturday evening in February, Marcus had a serious car accident, and he was rushed to Brighton Hospital. Thankfully his mum and dad were able to see him and speak to him as he was conscious, and the Doctors were at that time assessing him for spinal injuries as he broke his neck in the accident. Unfortunately, Marcus’ health declined overnight, and the next day he had to be moved to St Thomas’ in London. Luckily, they were able to stabilise him enough to be transferred back to a specialist unit in Brighton a week later.

Marcus is on Life Support, unconscious and in a critical condition, being cared for by the wonderful staff there. His Dad and Mum, Paul and Jan, have travelled to see him every day, but they are only allowed minimal time with him each day due to visiting rules.

We are all willing Marcus through this; we know he will be fighting to come back to us – he has always been determined!

However, Marcus was between jobs and therefore has no sick pay, and his recovery will prove to be a long road ahead - if he had some financial help, this would help alleviate some of the stress and worry.
