Help for Marc

My brother Marc Harris, a kind soul who would give you the shirt off of his back, is need of financial assistance due to being out of work for so long this year after having a heart attack in March and subsequently having open heart surgery this month. He’s a car salesman on commission and the only one with an income in his family. He has two special needs step children and a wife who not only cares for them but also suffers from health issues of her own. Family has already helped Marc by giving money and paying for the hearing aids he needed this year (which he’s agreed to pay for over time). He just needs a little more help until he can get back to work and regain health benefits.
Marc’s heart attack was in March and he was out of work until June, with multiple hospital visits in between. Only 9 days after returning to work, he went to the hospital for chest pain and the now third heart catheterization this year revealed a rapid progression in his diseased arteries, possibly due to his diabetes. His bypass surgery was last week and he is out of work again for 6-8 weeks. He was taken to the hospital yet again via ambulance on July 20thand was held for observation. It’s likely, given his unstable blood sugar that he will end up returning to the hospital before his recovery is complete.
Moreover, he has used up his FMLA and disability and will lose his health benefits on July 31stwhen he’ll be eligible for COBRA but since it is so cost prohibitive ($1,000 per month), without help, he’ll never be able to afford it. Meanwhile, he’s behind on his household bills and car payments. His insurance has paid for most of the expenses prior to his bypass surgery but he still owe’s $3000 for medical bills and is unsure yet of what he’ll have to pay from the surgery this month. He has no income, has depleted his savings and will be without any benefits at the end of the month.
I’d like to give you an idea of who Marc is so you know a bit more about the person you’re helping. He’s non-judgmental, hard-working, kind, honest and very sensitive. He’s struggled to make ends meet his whole life with jobs such as pizza delivery (working up to asst. manager) and gas station attendant. He’s helped raise 2 sons & a step daughter, 2 previous step sons and now 2 special needs children with autism. He doesn’t drink or smoke and never resorted to drugs or any addiction. Marc is a loving man whose stressful life has taken a toll on his heart.
