Hi, my name is Kathy Reynolds and I often have cats that come to my house over the years looking for food/help. Many have become friendly enough to get into crates to rescue but some remain elusive. This kitty I named Mango. Due to social media I discovered there were 4 others feeding him as well. Others said he was spraying and was not neutered so definitely that needed to be addressed. He became an emergency when he developed a bad limp, putting him at risk for predators or even crossing the busy roads he liked to travel. I have never used a trap before but had to do it to save/help him. MSPCA was awesome but required an appt in advance which is difficult when you're not sure if/when he would show up. Our local shelter limited for funding and I was told there wasn't a place for an injured cat to rest and that he would become their "property" and I would have no say in his treatment or decisions about him whatsoever even though I wanted to help financially and had found a place for him to rest. Euthanasia often seen as a better alternative to waiting for coyotes to get him and they would decide what was best and I would have no say. His well being became top priority and two of us "feeders" worked together to trap him. He was out in the 30 below night we had and had been in several fights producing injuries. He has been neutered and given shots he needed, x rays and treatment. The costs of veterinary care high as we all know. I'm reaching out to give animal lovers an opportunity to pitch in to help. I used a credit card and indeed it will take awhile to pay down, so any donation is appreciated. We are hoping he will come to trust humans over time and will remain with us. Thank you from Mango and me!
