I've never done this before - I hate asking for anything - but I'm asking for my sister Lyli who has just been diagnosed with Stage 3 Thoracic cancer.  She has 13 tumors that have spread from her lungs to her throat, neck and abdomen.

I lived with Lyli and her family in Chile, in 1990, as an exchange student.  Lyli was 12, I was 18, she was my host sister and we shared a bedroom.  Perhaps because of our age gap, we got along well, sharing our music, our clothes and stories of our crushes.  She is the one member of my host family who I have stayed in touch with since then.

Lyli has struggled over the past 10 years, raising two daughters on her own after separating from her husband.  Neither her family, nor her husband's family are in a position to support her and she is on her own.  She is determined to stay alive for the sake of her two girls, Sophia (16) and Leticia (14). 

Lyli has no health insurance and is entering the Chilean medical system as a public patient.  $25,000 USD would help pay for surgery and treatment to help her fight the cancer and give her a few more precious years to be with her girls.  She needs the money over the next few weeks and anything that you could contribute would be really appreciated.
