Help for Linda's Medical Costs
Donation protected
I am starting this fund for my mom, Linda Lapp. She is a kind, giving person, mom, nana, and friend who always helps her family and friends in need. This time she needs the help.
In September 2017, Linda was diagnosed with rectal cancer. After taking chemo pills and receiving radiation for 6 weeks, in January 2018, she had surgery to remove the tumor and insert a colostomy bag. During surgery she had bleeding and needed some blood and stayed a bit longer in the hospital. Following her surgery, she developed 2 infections in her wound which delayed her chemotherapy for a couple months, and she had a lot of pain. She needed a daily visiting nurse to tend to her wound also. She also needed a port inserted to receive her chemotherapy treatments. In April, Linda started chemotherapy. Linda has been trying to keep working her 2 jobs in order to keep up with medical and household bills, but it's difficult with being so sick and her issues that have arisen. At the beginning of June, Linda went to the ER in severe pain, and it was discovered she had a hernia. She had to be transported by ambulance to Geisinger in Danville. It needed to be operated on so it wouldn't get worse, and she wouldn't lose more of her colon. The surgery kept getting delayed due to her white blood cell count being so low. She experienced a lot of pain until she had it repaired. It was a same day surgery, but she needed to stay overnight due to nausea from the anesthesia, and her surgery took longer than expected as it was more difficult to repair. Linda must complete 6 months of chemo and have a reversal surgery for the colostomy bag in January 2019. She also needs another hernia repaired during that surgery which was too complicated to get at this time.
It has been a struggle to keep up with her household bills due to working less and needing to buy more to help with her medical needs. She has used all of her leave time at the University, but she has kindly received some donated days from co-workers. She has almost used all of her FSA account for medical expenses and still has many more to come. Any help for her would be appreciated!
