Help for Lil'Nanc--after heart surgery
Donation protected
Hi ----this is Tom, I am Nancy's "ex" and trying to help her. She is the mother of my children, and a recent grandmother as you can see in the picture. Please take with some genuine sincerity that I, her ex-husband, am the source of writing Nancy's events for the past year and trying to get her some help.
Nancy has been hit with 4 tragedies in the past year. One is hard enough on anyone.
1) Her significant other of many years (about 15 or so) passed on last summer (summer 2020) at a young age---like mine and Nancy, mid to late 50's.
2) Early this year (around February 2021) Nancy's mother Ann Seitz passed on----Ann was helping Nancy get along in payments on her home.
3) About a month after her mother passed, Nancy had a heart attack---and subsequent triple bypass surgery. She is recovering and doing well and I am sure is thankful to all the well wishers, friends, and family out there. It is still early as of this writing--not yet three months into her recovery, but she is making a comeback and going back to work soon.
4) Well---after events 1,2,3--Nancy decided (NEEDED) to sell her house which she could not keep up with (financial or maintenance). The lack of upkeep has built up over a long time and is an insurmountable maintenance nightmare, and then there is the loss of her mother helping with finances. This made it impossible for her to consider keeping the home. Well the home is sold (a good price for a home in disrepair)---holes in floor and all--but the fourth tragedy Nancy has been hit with, is the current housing market. This one takes an ongoing bite out of life and the ability to secure a replacement home.
Were this any other time, a plethora of suitable homes (small townhomes or condos and such) would allow Nancy to live on her hourly wage job---not with any extras, but just enough to get by and enjoy a quiet life. As I watch my children do everything they can to help their Mom---I call them "superheroes" ----they have been amazing. And, I do what I can, and probably more than might be expected. I humbly ask for your help for Nancy.
The current market makes finding suitable housing very hard. I have done what I can to help her manage finances. I've made significant resources available to here (you can ask her if you wish)--but I've helped as I am able, and continue helping with other expenses during the interim. A bunch of us moved furniture to a storage locker yesterday. However, WITH THIS HOUSING MARKET THE HELP I AM ABLE TO GIVE IS JUST IS NOT ENOUGH. I wish Nancy had that significant other (Jamie) around to help ---but he is gone. I wish Nancy's mother were still there helping---but she is gone too. I wish the housing market was not insane and was affordable--but that appears to be gone also. And I certainly wish there were no health issues--but there are.
If you are able to help Nancy-- this fund will help her pay down whatever home she lands in (we are still crossing fingers on a soft landing). Every affordable home is being bought by developers who lease them for twice what wage earners can afford. I scour Zillow---with an OCD like diligence ( that is part of who I am) ---but I can't create a house. I do what I can, and I'll seed this fund also.
Help--You may know Nancy. She is not looking for any more than "getting by" and surviving. She is humbled by the entire experience. If you can put in $50, do so--if you can put in more--that would be fantastic too. The goal --when applied to a home---just covers enough to soften the blow of the current market. That's all I think she'd want to ask--soften the landing of her past year of tragedies. She just wants a safe place to live and have her granddaughter come visit now and then, and not be too far away from her children.
I don't know how this really all works, but I guess I'm a sap and I picture an "It's a wonderful life moment" for Nancy. For myself, I may not have a whole lotta friends and connection, but she does and should. So--thanks for reading. I know you'll do what you are able. And, if you know Nancy then send her a cheerful note or contact. If you don't know Nancy, take in the story and consider helping as you are able.
And I'll leave off as I am known to do---with a quote (in my mind--not from Shakespeare, but from Willy Wonka---the Gene Wilder version of course--RIP).
