Dear Friends,
Help for life-saving surgery to save crushed foot.
In Summary, Sujatha Pinto has met with a major bus accident back in India, where while she was walking the bus came and hit her from behind, due to this she has suffered a head injury which she has recovered from, however she has suffered major crush injury to her foot and she has already lost 3 toes and most of her sole under her foot has fallen off. Initially, the doctors told her she has to amputate her leg, however since we got in touch with one of the best micro-surgeon he has saved her leg by doing a flap reconstruction (skin graft). As per doctors, it was a challenging surgery and we will have to wait and see for the healing to occur. She already had few surgeries may have to undergo another surgery. At present, she has had few surgeries to both her legs, where they have amputated her 3 toes and they have used most of the other thigh to take skin and graft for the flap reconstruction and because of this she is unable to move both her legs now and is in tremendous amount of pain. She was in ICU and had multiple blood transfusions and is having major dressing changes to both the legs. This accident has left her disabled for the rest of her life. However, the doctors have told us she should be able to walk after a few months with supportive shoes if the flap reconstruction heals but it will take a long time for this to happen. Since she is India, they don't have Medicare and immediate surgery bills are huge and to be paid before the patient goes for surgery and since all these bills are covered by the patient, the family is finding it very difficult to afford.
Unfortunately, the skin graft and flap reconstruction to her foot is a very expensive procedure. As Sujatha may not be able to walk for few months and will be disabled for the rest of her life, the financial pressure has added extra stress on the family and has left them devastated.
Your donations of any amount will make a difference to Sujatha, this will cover her existing costs and extra health treatments for the next 6 months to a year, however, she will use the prosthetic foot for the rest of her life.
I am sure she will appreciate your help and acknowledge each of you along this difficult and emotional journey and any donations would really comfort her.
Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much and save someone.
I am Clawdia. This campaign is for my sister-in-law Sujatha who is Michael's brother's wife, who has a beautiful family. Sujatha and her husband have one son who is in Year 11, her husband works for courier service, however, since the hospital bills are large he is unable to afford these bills. Sujatha would really love to walk and be there for their family and help them.
While we all feel helpless in situations like this, taking away some of this added pressure would help them a lot and bring a smile and concentrate on treatment.
Thanks heaps.
