Help for Lava Flow Victim & Family

Aloha Friends,
My good friend Sylvia and her family recently lost their home and property to the lava flow from the ongoing Kilauea eruption. For those unfamiliar with the situation, the current eruption is fast moving, and has destroyed hundreds of homes in several subdivisions. The area of Kapoho (as well as the beautiful tidepools nearby) were destroyed last week, leaving many on the island in shock at the sudden loss of their homes and community.
About Sylvia and her Family:
Sylvia is one of my dear friends from law school. She is a wonderful person, and she has lived on the Big Island for 18+ years. Sylvia has made her career as a dedicated public servant who has advocated tirelessly for victims of domestic violence and protecting the keiki in our community. Sylvia’s home was in the Kapoho farm lots where she resided with her husband, who was raised and lived on the same property all of his life. Also residing on the property was Sylvia’s mother in law, who originally purchased the property in the late 70’s and called Kapoho her home for 40+ years, as well as Sylvia’s disabled brother-in-law .
The lava flow that destroyed Kapoho last week displaced Sylvia and her family from their long-time home and community. They are now faced with starting a new life in a new place. The family is in need of emergency funds to pay for relocation expenses and to replace the many material goods that were lost. This is a trying time for many on the Big Island, but your support can help!
