Help For Laurie Wilmoth

Donation protected
My name is Laurie Wilmoth and people have asked what they can do to help.

I'm a breast cancer survivor. In June 2021, I was diagnosed with breast cancer just a day before what would have been my 5-year cancer-free milestone from uterine cancer. After diagnosis, I opted for a lumpectomy but ended up having four surgeries. They removed 26 cancerous nodes from the left side, and a chemo port was inserted. I had to have a second port inserted on the opposite side due to a failure. I completed four rounds of chemo at three hours each, to be followed by twelve one-hour sessions.

Throughout all of this, I kept working in customer service at our local grocery store where I had worked for twenty-eight years. However, after the first round of chemo in November 2021, I developed the delta variant of COVID-19 and began a 59-day hospital stay. I don't remember the first two weeks in the hospital, but I was able to have family present daily. I was treated for COVID-19 with forced oxygen and medication.

When I was released from the hospital in January 2022, I came home using a wheelchair and a walker and was on oxygen 24 hours a day. Since then, I've been dealing with a range of complications, including incontinence, fatigue, brain fog, muscle weakness, anxiety, and PTSD. I also use oxygen and rescue inhalers due to bilateral blood clots in my lungs and blood thinners to reduce blood clots in my legs from extended bed confinement.

Our family is now facing a new challenge: our insurance coverage will end in May, and we'll have to switch to a new carrier with an extremely high deductible. That's why we're reaching out for help. We're hoping to raise $10,000 to cover the costs of continued therapy, medication, and other expenses related to my ongoing recovery.
If you can help us out, we would be so grateful. Every little bit helps, and we appreciate your support more than words can say. Thank you for considering our GoFundMe campaign.
