To our Friends:
As many of you know our dear friend, Laureen Dobbs, has been fighting a valiant battle against uterine cancer for the past five months. As always is the case with our warrior friend, she has handled her treatment with a smile and aplomb. Unfortunately, her journey is approaching its end.
On Monday, May 18, hospice officially took over Laureen’s care. In the past week, Laureen was in need of 24-hour care in her home. She has now moved to Serenity Board and Care in Santa Rosa. Sadly, Laureen is in severe pain and is experiencing weakness and lack of strength in her legs which has caused her to fall several times. She is sleeping 20 + hours a day and her food intake is minimal. She still retains her pleasant demeanor and seems to understand and accept that the end of her life is approaching.
Laureen has lived her life with gusto, generosity, love of life and a positive attitude, even throughout her cancer treatment. Those wonderful qualities still prevail.
Laureen’s income is minimal and it is impossible for her to cover the cost of the care that is needed in order to spend her last days in comfort and dignity. She needs the help of her friends in order to spend her last days in peace, which she so deserves. After detailed analysis we believe that she will need an estimated amount of $35,000 to cover the amount in excess of what she can cover. We have set up this GoFundMe account with this amount as the goal.
No gift is too small and anything you are able to give will be received with appreciation and gratitude.
We are saddened to share this news with you. Those of you who know Laureen will know that she would not want any of us to feel sad on her behalf. She, instead, would want us to toast her passing with love and good cheer. And, to never forget her and the joy she has brought to so many.
