On May 26th, a female beagle was intentionally abandoned in the parking lot of a monkey sanctuary just outside Gainesville, FL. She isn't microchipped and nobody has responded to postings about her on lost pet sites, so I'm keeping the dog, who we've named Ladybird. She's suspected to be a breeder who was abandoned once she couldn't breed anymore, but we'll never know for sure. She's an incredibly sweet, timid girl, and we're so excited to be able to give her the loving home that she deserves!

On Ladybird's first trip to the vet, we learned that she has heartworms, along with a few other minor issues that we're already treating. Heartworm treatment isn't cheap, and the sudden, unexpected vet bills are going to be a challenge. Any help with her bills, no matter how small, would be a huge help. The amount requested, along with funds that friends have already been kind enough to offer, would cover the high end of the treatment estimate provided by our vet.
