Help for Kyler!! Gastroschisis- HLH

His name is Kyler.. I call him Superman. He is truly amazing!  He blessed our family 5 yrs ago in May, he came out fighting and ready to take on the world. He was born with Gastroschisis, a birth defect in which his intestines extended outside of the abdomen through a hole next to his belly button.  In his first 6mo of life he had 7 surgeries- which included 5 resects of his intestines, to fix this issue. The result of those many surgeries has caused him to have SBS or short gut syndrome.  He uses a central line for nutrition, but also has a mickey button for supplemental feeding.  He has developed hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), which is a rare disorder of the immune system.  With HLH,  his body's defense system does not work normally, causing his white blood cells to attack other blood cells. He may require Chemo to treat his HLH.  Also because of his compromised immune system, he can't  have  immunizations and won't be allowed in a public school setting. Homeschooling is the safest and really, only option.  He is hospitalized 3-4 times a year, and several times we weren't sure we'd get to keep our sweet boy with us. But he fights, overcoming battles with an amazing attitude.  Very early on he learned to charm everyone with WINKS and batting his long eyelashes.  

His current situation is DIRE.  He was hospitalized for fever and has gone into Septic Shock.  At this time, he is sedated and on life support.  His platelets aren't working and have no clotting ability, causing at times almost uncontrollable bleeding.  Blood transfusions are ongoing to get him stable.  Here's where we need you. First and foremost we need PRAYERS!  His mother, Samantha, is the strongest woman I have ever met. She faces the challenges, does what needs to be done, and still has the fortitude to keep going. Her dedication shows, in his smile and in his strength. But she struggles, she has been placed on FMLA which will give her time for Kyler, but no pay. Her transportation is unreliable. Her current vehicle has a short in the electrical, that no mechanic can seem to trace. She's needing new tires also. There are so many hidden and unexpected expenses that come with Kyler's care. We are hoping that with your help we can get her safely back and forth to the hospital, but also give her a cushion to help with other major healthcare issues that are sadly in Kyler's future.
