Help for Kevin Doherty & his fight with Cancer.

In May of 2020 our dear Son, Brother, Husband, Father and Friend Kevin was diagnosed with rectal cancer.

Kevin initially went through several rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, followed by extensive surgery that left him with an ileostomy. After his surgery, his pathology report showed the surgeon was able to achieve clear margins and we believed he was cancer-free.
What we didn’t know at the time, was that the cancer had already begun to spread to distant organs that were too small to show up on scans. In early January a new cancerous tumor was found in his liver that was deemed inoperable due to the cancer also spreading to his bones through-out his body. The cancer had continued to spread to other parts of his liver and to his spine, ribs, and shoulder.
Kevin’s prognosis is now terminal.
We logically know the outcome of this story, but the emotional part of us all is desperate for a rewrite. We hang on to any glimpse of hope because our 40-year-old Kevin dying, leaving behind his two-year-old son Aidan and wife Kristin, seems to defy logic.
We’re now focusing on the time we have left together. As I’m sure you can imagine, the pandemic has only added to the agony of this situation. Cancer is an isolating enough disease on its own, but not being able to connect with loved ones over the past year has taken its toll on Kevin and his family.

Despite OHIP covering much of Kevin’s care, he has been off work along with his wife Kristin since diagnosis and the medical bills along with all other living bills and expenses continue to pile up.
Every appointment where bad news was delivered, every treatment, every test; Kevin did this along without his wife Kristin due to visitor restrictions at the hospital.
Right now we’re holding out hope for quick, widespread vaccination so that Kevin can see his friends and family and tick some items off his bucket list. It truly is a race between cancer and covid at this point
We don’t know how long Kevin has but he was first reluctant at doing this campaign but as time went by and he realized the hard reality of things, he wants to do everything in his power to help his wife and son transition to a new life without him and every penny raised will help in aiding and supporting them.
