“The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.”

 My name is Ken Heffron - I am a husband, a father, a puppy papa, and a cat dad - and if strength was judged by the will of the spirit and not by the body, I’d be Superman! Instead, due to some short straws in life, I’m more of a Clark Kent = normal, feeble, and wishing I was a superhero.

 A brief history: around 20 years ago I fell ill and have had to have my stomach removed in a series of invasive and painful surgeries. I’ve had my spleen rupture twice (and spontaneously fix itself), I’ve had mini strokes and a couple of full on ones, several bowel obstruction surgeries, pneumococcal countless times and most recently I fell and broke my left hip. (I also have a feeding tube and am on oxygen, which I tell myself makes me look steampunk!)

While I’m on the mend physically thanks to physical therapy, great doctors, and my loving family, unfortunately we are struggling financially with my medical bills. Last summer I was in medical rehab for four months, and I just got out of rehab again a couple of weeks ago. Trying to find a source of funds to pay the medical bills that keep showing up in the mailbox, and the bill collector calls that plague mine, my wife’s, and my daughter’s phones multiple times a day, has put a strain on our family.

 I used to be Superman and could stop a speeding bullet and save the day! - but now I’m realizing I’m just human and I have to put my pride aside to ask for help. Praying daily, trying to keep our spirits up, and hoping for a miracle keeps us going but we need more help than faith can give. I don’t know that anyone will be willing to help because I know we all struggle, but if you can, you’d be the answer to many heartfelt prayers.
