Help For Kayden & Family
On July 15th, Sarah received a call from her son Kayden’s summer camp, informing her that Kayden had fallen and hit his head. Kayden was immediately rushed to the emergency room in Freeport, IL. She was told there was uncontrolled bleeding. Sarah, a single mother of two, was not prepared for the rollercoaster of emotions that was about to unfold for her and her family.
Kayden had a seizure upon arrival to the hospital. He was in and out of consciousness with his heart rate and oxygen levels fluctuating. After getting the bleeding under control, it was determined that Kayden had a skull fracture and would need emergency surgery, but it would need to happen at a higher level hospital.
He was placed on antibiotics and anti seizure medications and flown to Madison, where he underwent emergency surgery. Kayden remained in critical care ICU for the following day, with frequent visits from neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons, and physical therapist. Kayden is not out of the woods yet. He is still at high risk for infection and may never regain mobility on the right side of his face.
The return home for Sarah and Kayden Is going to be a difficult one. Kayden will need medical care to fully recover, as well as several future surgeries. Sarah will need to take time off of work to get Kayden to and from hospital appointments, while also ensuring that Kayden’s baby brother Chase will continue to attend daycare. The medical expenses are one large additional area of stress that could be alleviated for Kayden’s family, so I began this Go-Fund-Me to help Sarah, Kayden, and Chase have one extra thing NOT to have to worry about.
