Help for Kate and little Mika
On 10/17/2016 Mika the 10-week-old Maltipoo experienced several seizures varying in severity. Mika was purchased through a breeder on craigslist who may have known her condition but did not disclose it. The breeder has since discarded her burner phone.
The vets suspect it may either be liver issues or a brain tumor. Mika is currently undergoing diagnosis by a neurologist and may need surgery if she is found to have brain tumors. $6,000 would greatly help my friend Kate cover some of the veterinary costs associated with Mika's diagnosis.

[Mika Update 10/21/2016] - Mika was released from the ER on 10/19. She's been in stable condition and is on anti-seizure medication 5x a day. She hasn't had another episode and is eating and playing like normal! We are still waiting for the results from her infectious disease panel which tests for toxins, viruses, and bacterial diseases. The results should be in within a few days now. Mika's neurologist was unable to give her a diagnosis but has indicated that there are there four potential causes: 1) virus or toxin. If virus, she said it would be tricky to treat because of her age and that a toxin was unlikely given her other test results. 2) Mika had an elevated level of lymphocytes which could indicate lymphoma. We are going back in two weeks to get her blood tested again to see if the levels hopefully went down. However, there is no link between seizures and lymphoma. 3) Mika could have either a brain tumor or degenerative disease. In which case, the treatment is again limited because of her age. 4) BEST CASE SCENARIO. Mika has epilepsy and is in the 0.1% of dogs who show signs before the age of 6 months. If that's the case, she will be on anti-seizure medication for the rest of her life.
