Support for Kasey and family - cancer expenses!
Hello everyone, It is with a heavy heart that I write this. On September 13th, 2020, after two ER visits and an ongoing stay in the ICU, Khathaname (Kasey) Chanthasen was diagnosed with stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer, a rare but aggressive form of lung cancer that is commonly found in smokers. This was a shock to everyone, including the doctors, as he is fairly young and *never* smoked a cigarette in his life. The cancer had already spread from the lungs and metastasized in his bones, liver, and even the brain.
Kasey is a loving husband and father of four (3 sons and a daughter) who enjoys outdoor adventures with his family and tirelessly working on projects around the house. He hopes to be home with his family soon and to return to his work as a fire protection project design engineer.
An over two week hospital stay has resulted in several life-saving procedures including draining both the heart and lungs, and treatment for pancreatitis and pneumonia. Emergency chemotherapy was prescribed to help control the fast moving cancer, with radiation treatment and immunotherapy also on the horizon. These procedures have left him mostly bedridden, with simple tasks such as walking and brushing his teeth being difficult undertakings. A stark contrast to Kasey’s otherwise strong and independent nature. The battle against this terrible illness has just begun, but out-of-pocket expenses are quickly adding up and surpassing the family’s ability to meet them.
It’s not easy to ask for help, but Kasey has put immense amounts of effort, time, and resources in helping friends, family and community over the years. Our goal is to ease the burden of financial stress and allow him to focus on his family and watching his two youngest sons grow up. If you’re unable to make a financial contribution please consider sharing our fundraiser!
All donations will go directly to Kasey and his wife, Phonmany, to offset the extreme costs incurred during hospital stays while seeking medical assistance and treatment.
Thank you for all of the support.
