It is with deep hearts that loving mother and wife Josefa “Josie” Rodriguez passed away on Monday May 5, 2025 from complications of Sickle Cell disorder. Many may have not known, but Josie battled with it from a young age and diagnosed when she had her eldest daughter. She went through many Sickle Cell crisis throughout her life. Unfortunately, the last crisis proved to be too much. She leaves behind daughters 17-year-old Yanira and 26-year-old Merari. She was married for 26 years to Melchor Rodriguez.

Josie was a member of Iglesia de Dios North Las Vegas congregation and relied on her faith to carry her through hardships and happy times. Josie is described by her family and friends as the sweetest person with a big heart, caring for everyone around her with a bright smile on her face. Even with her condition she never complained but relied on her faith and love for God. It was truly something to admire. Josie showed her love for God by serving others with compassion in every act of kindness. Whether it was lending a helping hand, offering a listening ear or simply being present for those in need. Her life was a beautiful reflection of her faith in action. Josie always wanted to be a blessing to others.

As her family navigate this time of profound grief, they are also facing the significant financial burden of medical expenses, the costs of arranging a funeral/memorial and raising a teenage daughter as a single parent. Whatever you can give to support in their time of need is appreciated. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Con profundo pesar, Josefa “Josie” Rodríguez, madre y esposa, falleció el lunes 5 de mayo de 2025 por complicaciones de la anemia falciforme. Muchos quizás no lo sabían, pero Josie luchó contra esta enfermedad desde muy joven y fue diagnosticada al nacer a su hija mayor. Atravesó muchas crisis de anemia falciforme a lo largo de su vida. Desafortunadamente, la última crisis fue demasiado. Deja atrás a sus hijas Yanira, de 17 años, y Merari, de 26. Estuvo casada durante 26 años con Melchor Rodríguez.

Josie era miembro de la congregación de la Iglesia de Dios de North Las Vegas y confió en su fe para superar las dificultades y los momentos felices. Su familia y amigos la describen como una persona muy dulce, de gran corazón, que cuidaba a todos a su alrededor con una sonrisa radiante. A pesar de su condición, nunca se quejó, sino que confió en su fe y amor por Dios. Fue algo verdaderamente admirable. Josie demostró su amor por Dios sirviendo a los demás con compasión en cada acto de bondad. Ya sea brindando una mano amiga, escuchando atentamente o simplemente estando presente para quienes lo necesitaban, su vida fue un hermoso reflejo de su fe en acción. Josie siempre quiso ser una bendición para los demás.

Mientras su familia atraviesa este momento de profundo dolor, también enfrentan la importante carga financiera de los gastos médicos, los costos de organizar un funeral y la crianza de una hija adolescente como madre soltera.
