We are very sad to share that our friend, brother, and co-worker Jorge Perez passed away Saturday February 6, 2021, after his long and hard battle with COVID-19. He is only 45. He fought with all he had to get back to his beloved wife Rossy, their daughter Melany, to the job he dedicated his life to, and to his extended family whom he loved dearly. Our deepest condolences to the Perez and Cisneros family.
Jorge was confirmed positive for COVID-19 December 29th, admitted to UTMB January 2nd, moved to the ICU and put on a ventilator January 14th, after intense battles with fever and both of his lungs collapsing he fought so hard to survive but unfortunately this terrible virus took him away from this world at 5:24pm Saturday February 6th.
All of the great memories of Jorge as a loving, dedicated, and supportive husband to Rossy, best dad to Melany, to his family, friends, and coworkers will be kept alive in our hearts forever.
Jorge dedicated his life to working and providing for his family. Those who know him know he loved to cook (especially grill), loved to listen to heavy metal and rock while drinking a cold one, and contribute to the success of Mosquito Café, the restaurant he spent 20 years working with. To his coworkers, he is passionate about his work, dedicated to working hard, a team player, and gives a helping hand anytime. His selflessness and dedication is evident when even though he was about to be admitted to the ICU, he was texting recipes and gave advice on how to get his beloved restaurant back open to survive this pandemic.
The whole Galveston and restaurant community are overwhelming saddened that Jorge will never walk through the door again. Jorge deserved so much more from this life, he is an incredible man, his family and work family will miss him every day, it will never be the same without him.
As friends, co-workers, fellow restaurant workers, and family, we want to support Rossy and Melany and honor Jorge’s life. Please consider helping his beloved family during the toughest time in their lives. The money raised will be financial support to Rossy and Melany and will also provide assistance with any medical and funeral expenses.
This is a special way to honor Jorge, a man who dedicated his life to the food service industry. With such a sudden and unexpected death we are left heartbroken. As an industry, we are here to support and lift each other up, especially the families of our loved one in this time of great sadness and difficulty.
We can cry together and laugh together remembering our brother, time will heal our hearts, and Jorge will live forever in our memories. We love you Jorge!
