Update from Joleen:

Dear Friends:


I'm so grateful beyond belief for your support and encouragement during my family member's health crisis. Surgery is scheduled on Monday and I'll be able to be there because of your help and have a place to come home to also! 

You've helped with so much from travel to food, medical supplies and prescriptions, as well as household supplies for her. Without either of us able to work right now, keeping her home a sterile environment for all her injections and IV feedings, shots, etc., paper towels, toilet paper (shipping costs), and all else just wouldn't be possible. You're a part of the solution to our challenges an, most importantly, have enabled her to get healthy enough to have this surgery, which is a life or death choice for her. Please know the depth of gratitude I feel and the commitment I have to pay this forward in any way I can.

Those of us who are blessed to know Joleen know that her heart is huge. She has a gift for generosity, for human kindness and for gratitude.  She has given so many of us so much, in so many ways. Whether it’s offering a listening ear, a sympathetic shoulder, companionship in dark times, a beautiful smile…Joleen is a friend who is there for us.

Now, our dear friend Joleen is in need of help herself.  She is currently in Kansas caring for a family member who is facing critical health issues.  Joleen has been traveling between Kansas and Minnesota for several weeks. It’s very hard to predict how long this crisis will last.

Joleen is not currently working, as she can’t maintain a regular schedule that a job requires and because she is occupied with looking after her loved one and other family in Kansas.  She needs help with money for housing in Kansas and in Minnesota, for transportation and for providing a healthful environment for her loved one.

Joleen has been reluctant to accept help during this crisis.  As an independent person, she (like many of us) has a hard time setting aside her pride in order to allow others to help.  A group of friends has convinced her to open up to the idea letting others care for her in this way.
