Hello my name is Steven Haas,

Yesterday my sister and her husband were rocked with a tragic and unexpected medical diagnosis. John went to the doctors, and what started as some bleeding gums and bruising turned into a nightmare. After blood work and a bone marrow biopsy, John was diagnosed with acute leukemia. John is forty years old and a loving father to two little boys.

Immediately, my sister who is a nurse practitioner sought out the best medical care for John. Last night at 2:00 AM John was transferred from Lancaster to University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia to begin chemo therapy. My sister updated us today and John's doctors are expecting him to be at UPENN for a minimum of thirty days. With the maximum stay being unknown at this time.

John and Krista have two little boys. Jude who is two years old, and Miles is three months old. Krista who is the primary source of income for the family will likely be off from work for an extended period of time traveling back and forth to Philadelphia during John's chemo treatment.

The last thing I want my sister to have to worry about during these trying times is financial hardship. We don't know how long John will be hospitalized, but we are willing to do whatever we can to get him home to his boys. I am asking that anyone who is able to help please do. If you aren't, thats okay. At the least please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.
