In what was supposed to be a fun evening, turned into a nightmare for my nephew Joey and his partner Maddie of 11 years. As they were helping to stop a fight between a person on a bike and a man in a truck they became victims of a drunk, reckless man who used his vehicle to purposely hit them. Joey managed to barley escape although Maddie was not as fortunate. Maddie sustained a severe injury to her leg ( fibula and tibia) that required surgery. They are now home but are both left with the trauma of the event. Joey in his 20’s had just begun his new job in a new city. He will now need to take time away to help care for Maddie’s needs as they only have each other to rely on since their move. As they attempt to rebuild their lives and move forward they struggle with their new reality. Medical bills, commuting to and from therapy appointments, food, and their animals care etc. will all require payment that will pile up.

I wish I could change what was done to them however, I cannot . None of what has happen to them is their fault and yet they will be the ones to suffer. Any help you can provide will help them tremendously as they navigate the struggles ahead.
