Help for Jason Courtney's Heart
Donation protected
On Saturday April 22nd, my brother Jason was admitted through the Emergency Room to Carteret Health Care and diagnosed as being in Afib. After several days of IV medications and testing he has been diagnosed with Atrial Septal Defect. A congenital heart defect in which blood flows between the atria (upper chambers) of the heart. Normally, the atria are separated by a dividing wall, the interatrial septum. If this septum is defective or absent, then oxygen-rich blood can flow directly from the left side of the heart to mix with the oxygen-poor blood in the right side of the heart, or vice versa. He will be discharged Wed and is now being referred to Duke Medical Center for repair of this condition. He will be scheduled to undergo a Catheter Procedure. Percutaneous device closure involves the passage of a catheter into the heart through the femoral vein guided by fluoroscopy and echocardiography. All treatment thus far has not been covered by Insurance. Jason is one the kindest souls and any donations to help with his treatment and recovery would be beyond appreciated!
