Jameson has been our loyal companion for 10 years, filling our lives with love, joy, and countless memories. Less than two months ago, he was diagnosed with terminal urethral cancer that had already spread to his lymph nodes. The prognosis was 6-12 months, but his health has declined much faster than anyone expected. We are both struggling to come to terms with this diagnosis, and every day is a precious gift.
This heartbreak came just days after we lost our other dog, Lily, to a sudden illness. In a matter of a day and a half, she was gone, and we did everything we could to save her. Between the emergencies with both Jameson and Lily, we have racked up thousands of dollars on our credit cards, trying to give them the fighting chance and care they deserved. Now, as Jameson nears the end of his journey, we want to make sure he is as comfortable and loved as possible. Any extra funds will be used to help provide end-of-life care for our 15-year-old dog, Zoey, who is suffering from Canine Cognitive Dysfunction. We fear we may soon have to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to her as well.
Emotionally, we have been struggling with everything since our dogs started going downhill. On top of the heartbreak, our jobs haven't been ideal—work has been slow, and we haven't had the hours we need to stay on top of our financial situation. My partner has been an incredible help through all of this, supporting the dogs and myself emotionally, and has struggled deeply with the loss of Lily and the upcoming losses with Jameson and Zoey. We never ask for help and honestly hate to do so, but we can't let the animals we love suffer for that. We are doing our best to manage, but the weight of it all has been almost unbearable.
