Welcome all,

Dec 13th, 1949 in Maniwaki, Que, my uncle James Gray was born with Cerebral Palsy. That being said it has not stopped him or slowed him down for almost all of his life.

Son of World War II vet Donald Gray and Violet Gray and Sibling to Donna, Bob and my father Ian, he went about his life like a normal person, not letting his disability decide his fate or how he chose to live.

If you have spent anytime in Maniwaki you would know who my uncle is. You could find him on a three wheel bike roaming up and down the streets doing his own thing, at the hockey arena watching the local teams play. This small town has done a great deal for my uncle through his life and he would never leave it behind.

Since my grandparents passed he was placed in a nursing home and financial care has been solely on the siblings and for the most part my father Ian. My father is far to proud to ever ask for help, so he will work his tail off as he always has to make his own ends meet and then work even more for his brother.

Jim's health has gotten worse these past few years and he is basically stuck in the home permanently. He is unable to get in a normal vehicle without assistance and needs 24/7 care and help. For someone who has accepted his life and never complained, not being able to leave to his local restaurant to visit with friends or stop by the arena is killing him.

My dad has been renting a Van big enough to allow him the ability to get in and out and taking it to Maniwaki whenever he can to get him out for a few hours. This means everything to my uncle but each time costs my father over $400. If you know the help our government gives, it barely covers the nursing home let alone the electronic bikes or wheel chairs, and definitely not the only thing he has left to live for, seeing his friends.

The money raised will go towards buying a used Van that will allow us to take him out as much as we can and avoid the rental fees.

Help make someone who was dealt a shitty hand from birth, have the ability to live a little more on his terms.

Please share with everyone you can so we can make this happen for my uncle Jim.

Sincerely,

Jeff Gray
