Help for Jacquelin
Donation protected
Hi everyone. Jane Phelps here. My daughter Jacquelin lives in Minneapolis. She got sick the 3rd week in February, went to the ER, and was diagnosed with Influenza B. While sick with that for a week she started to get worse, worried, the paramedics were called March 2nd. After describing her as the sickest patient they had all day, the medics rushed Jacquelin to the hospital. From the ER things went from bad to worse and the doctors had to make the decision to sedate and intubate Jacquelin as she was no longer able to breathe.
The first handful of days were taken one at a time as doctors knew from the X-ray Jacquelin had pneumonia but they were not sure what had caused it. They were later able to narrow down the bacteria and begin treating it specifically. However she later developed infected fluid around her lungs that was found to be a different bacteria. She was now facing not only one infection that had taken over her entire left lung but a second one around her lung.
The progress is slow and we now know that after 8 days on the intubation machine Jacquelin still has at minimum a few more left, however we have yet to be given a set number. When she gets the clear to leave the ICU, Jacquelin will still have to stay in the hospital and unspecified amount of time for physical and occupational therapy as well as respiratory therapy and she will have to be on IV antibiotics for up to 6 weeks.
She is supposed to get a CT scan today to determine if she is responding well to the current antibiotics or if she will need surgery to drain/repair her lung.
I have been off work, driving back and forth from Moorhead to spend time with her in the hospital and help with her apartment and kitties. I'm asking for help to cover her rent and utilities for the following 2-3 months and any other unforeseen expenses on the long road ahead. We also welcome thoughts and prayers for Jacquelin. Thank you!
