My Name is Dana.

The morning of Monday October 20th, our dog Izzie, got out of the yard and got hit by a car, who didn’t even stop. We found her in the ditch. She’s only 4 years old.

We have taken her to the animal hospital in Guelph, and found out she has a fractured hip and needs surgery.

They have quoted us 6-8 thousand dollars for the surgery she needs, but with us both off currently on maternity leave, we can’t really afford it.

I am reaching out for whatever help I can get so we can take care of our fur baby.

Update

More X-rays showed that Izzie not only had fractures on her right hip that required surgery, but her left hip had become dislocated, but popped back into place, and also has many broken ribs.

Izzie had surgery on her right hip on Tuesday. Everything went smoothly and we got to bring her home on Thursday.

She’s in quite a bit of pain, and is on many pain meds to help. She is doing well, walking a little on her own, but will be 6-8 weeks of recovery time before she is fully healed. She will need a few follow up appointments, and some physiotherapy, but she should make a full recovery.
